Sanitising light

Sanitising Light for Public Health

Lux is a smart sanitizing system that uses sensor technology and an array of Far-UV lamps to sanitize public-use facilities. It provides the required hygiene conditions to reduce the risk of spreading harmful germs and pathogens for human health.

Designed for Roca / Awarded Design

Winner of the international design competition jumpthegap® 2020.

Far-UV Light

Recent developments on UV technology have proven that Far-UV (the blue band in the UV spectrum) has a shorter wavelength than other UV bands, which is safer for human exposure, and more effective for disinfection (99.9% pathogen destruction). This opens the possibility for using UV light against pathogens and germs in public and consumer goods applications.

After a user leaves a public-use facility, Lux’s motion sensors activate an array of Far-UV lamps, firing and killing the pathogens spread on the facility's surfaces and air.

Lux displays the quantity and location of available spots in a specific facility, helping the users to avoid overcrowded places where social distancing is difficult to implement.
