Sirius Pintuition is a tumor localization system developed and commercialized by Sirius Medical, a med-tech company based in the High Tech Campus Eindhoven. As part of its expansion strategy and market differentiation, the company decided to redesign the probe used for localizing magnetic seeds implanted at the location of a breast tumor.

Project brief
Redesign the Sirius Pintuition Probe. Requirements: Clearly indicate grip orientation, provide on-probe feedback and optimize dimension to reduce volume and enhance grip.
Shape and grip exercise
A brief hands-on approach helped us to kickstart the design process. Understanding the shapes, weight, and overall construction of the device was important to clarify the key elements of the concept design as follows: the probe must be used by right and left-handed users, it must integrate multiple affordances to intuitively communicate orientation of use, and it must optimize the visualization of data and examination workflow.
