Project brief
TCL Award 2021 called for design ideas of large flexible displays, 17 -27 inches or 55-77 inches, focused on utilizing the potential of flexible and rollable features of OLED display technology.
Design proposition
Working from home has increasingly become a more realistic and attractive alternative for people to adjust their lifestyle to the different challenges and opportunities of our evolving society. Yet, not every household has a dedicated spot to work at home nor specialized furniture or equipment.
Among the many objects that are needed to work from home, one usually stands out due to its relevance for comfort and productivity: the computer monitor. Even though it might be a nightmare to transport a computer monitor from one spot to the other, or even in a static location it can disrupt and look out of place when placed at home. Nobody wants to occupy the dining table with a bulky computer monitor, right?
The aim of this project was to reinvent the computer monitor offering a more versatile interface tailored to fulfill the needs of tomorrow's needs.
I came up with of taking advantages of the ground-breaking technology of foldable displays, and transform the way we use and experience computer monitors. The idea was rather simple: a computer monitor that can fold and unfold to be easily transported, installed and used in different places, without being constrained by its physical and usability properties of being a static unit.

Frame
Frame takes advantage of the rollable-display technology to create a compact and portable screen interface focused on delivering comfort, performance, and convenience to end-users. Frame is a versatile system that enables users to adjust their spaces according to their needs and life dynamics, elevating the user experience and usability of computer monitors.
Fram can be rolled and store in a compact casing. This allows user to have a big screen anywhere at any time.
The casing dock is also the base and support for the monitor. It offers an stable and adjustable interface for different positions and configurations of use.
TCL Technologies has submitted a design patent application to protect this design. Design patent is pending.
